5 Indian Summer Fruits To Feed Your Furry Babies

5 Indian Summer Fruits To Feed Your Furry Babies

With summers raging, it is imperative to make sure that our Pets get enough nutrients and water to stay hydrated and healthy. Here are 5x best fruits to share with your dog during this summer season –

  1. Watermelon – Some pieces of this succulent fruit sans the seeds and the outer cover make for an ideal summer treat for the dog. Not only is this fruit hydrating in nature but is packed with fiber & potassium as well as vitamins A, B6 and C. With 90% water composition this fruit serves as an excellent way to beat the heat!
  2. Mangoes – This delicious tropical delight is often a weakness of many taste buds including canine sensibilities. Although it is safe to feed the fruit’s flesh, but you should not feed its peel or pit to the pet as it can be hazardous. Mango is extremely healthy for the dog as it is a rich source of Vitamin A, B6, C, E, flavonoids, antioxidants (prevent cancer), and fiber (aids in digestion). All of this goodness put together in the fruit also helps to strengthen the immune system and lowers the cholesterol.
  3. Banana – Chop it or Freeze it and give it your furry baby..If your Pet has a sweet tooth, mash banana and mix it with some honey or homemade peanut butter as a treat. This soft and tasty fruit comes with a healthy dose of fiber, potassium, copper, biotin and other vitamins such as B6 and C. Modest servings is the safest bet for the pet owing to the fruit’s high dose of sugar.
  4. Musk Melon – Use a melon baller to scoop out bite-size bits, or chop into chunks – just make sure they’re small enough and not a choking hazard. Loaded with vitamin A, muskmelon is a great fruit for dogs.
  5. Apples – Core the apple and remove all seeds before feeding to your dog, as they contain low amounts of cyanide. Frozen pieces of apples are a great snack for your Pets. High in fiber and naturally sweet, apples are a great natural teeth-cleaner for dogs – they also freshen bad breath!

All these fruits given in moderation will not affect your do; however, if your dog is diabetic or has any medical conditions which restricts them from eating certain fruits, please check with the vet before you feed them anything new.
